Fimmvörðuháls is one of Iceland’s most dramatic highland crossings, linking the lush valley of Þórsmörk with the waterfall-lined coast at Skógar. The route climbs between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull, passing newly formed volcanic craters, sweeping ridgelines and more than twenty cascading waterfalls. A challenging yet immensely rewarding hike, it offers some of the most powerful views in Iceland, and a true sense of accomplishment at journey’s end.
